How to distinguish Woodstock and his bird friends

How to distinguish Woodstock and his bird friends (Note: Non-official answer. Just my observation.)

All birds are having eight "triangles" as their hair.
😀Raymond: Purple. His second "hair" look like the Japanese word "shi" (し). Sometimes in yellow colour with a sunglasses. (1988-10-13)
😀Harriet: has a red ribbon at her head. Her tail is in the shape of an equilateral triangle. (1980-05-12)
😀Woodstock: His fourth and fifth "hairs" are in V-shape. (1967-04-04)
😀Olivier: His third and fourth "hairs" are in V-shape. His fifth "hair" is in an inverted U-shape. (1978-03-27)
😀Conrad: His third and fourth "hairs" are in V-shape. His fifth "hair" is in the shape of a straight line. (1978-03-27)
😀Bill: His tail is in the shape of a long, flatted triangle - the longest one among all Woodstock's bird friends. Longer by one "eye line". Also, because he is married to Harriet, so he is always with her together. (1978-03-27)
😀Fred: His third and fourth "hairs" are in a square-root-shape (√). (1990-04-02)
😀Roy: His five "hairs" are all separated. He is the only one who does not appear in the Snoopy Street Fair. (1998-04-18)
😀Wilson: with a stick. (1984-12-02)
😀Woodstock grandfather: with a blue hat, eyeglasses and two wrinkles near his mouth. (1994-01-06)

20150822

20150822

Your lovely student See Yan leaves a footprint here."

iTunes accounts required

Dear all Snoopy fans using iOS,

I made a list of iOS Snoopy apps that is exclusively available in certain countries only.

I have created 155 iOS accounts for different countries. (Up to now, Apple offer services in 155 countries out of the 196 countries in the world.) And I have tested all the 155 stores. So I believe that my list is complete.
However, feel free to add more countries or make amendments to the list.

If you need help in creating an iTunes account of a particular country, you may contact me. But sorry that I can only help you to download the free apps.
I have made a video on how to create a free iOS account.

Induction (again)

Prof. K.M. Tsang

10:26 AM (3 hours ago)

Thank you for your email and I am glad that you still remember what I have said in my lectures almost 20 years ago.

The most widely accepted formulation for the system of natural numbers is the system of the Peano Axioms.  You can read a brief description of this from the following link

http://global.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/447921/Peano-axioms

As you can see, the fifth axiom here is essentially the principle of mathematical induction.

I already forgot why I spent five minutes to emphasize the difference between "mathematical induction" and the "principle of mathematical induction".  There should be no or little material difference between them, except that we (and students) should understand that mathematical induction is one of the axioms (in the Peano's axiomatic system) for the natural number system, not to confuse it as "a theorem". Hence it is called a "principle".  We can use it to prove many assertions concerning validity on natural numbers.  This is also (logically) equivalent to the well-ordering property of the natural numbers (under the usual order in the system of the natural numbers).

I hope my explanation can be of use to you in your classes.  Let me know if you need further clarifications.

    With best wishes,

    KM Tsang

An interesting question in Mathematical Induction

Dear Prof. Tsang,

I was your HKU student of the course "24114 Linear Algebra" in 1996-1997, many years ago when I was in University Year 1.
I have an algebra question that would like to discuss with you (or, to seek your opinion).

What is the difference between "mathematical induction" and "the principle of mathematical induction"?
This question sounds rather philosophical, yet I remember at that time, you spend over 5 minutes in your lecture, talking about their difference.
And your conclusion is that we should use "the principle of mathematical induction".

However, to be honest, at that time I don't really understand.
I just memorize that I should use the phrase "by the principle of induction", and then I tell myself to avoid teaching my students "by induction".
Although you know that nowadays HKDSE Maths Module 2 exam marking scheme is not very strict and they even accept phrase like "by M.I.", I still want to teach my students the correct phrase.

So, would you mind explaining it again to me, or is there any reference that I can read myself?

Thank you for your attention!

Pop Up Store奇遇系列(14 episodes)

Pop Up Store奇遇系列(14 episodes)

今日pop up store 奇遇1 (2015/12/25):
small size - WS is more popular.
Large size - SN is more popular.
WS is a chicken?

今日pop up store 奇遇1 (2015/12/28):

今日pop up store 奇遇2 (2015/12/28):

今日pop up store 奇遇1 (2015/12/31):

今晚pop up store 奇遇3 (2015/12/31):
Floppy disk)

今日pop up store 奇遇1 (2016/01/01):

We wish you a merry dog dog.".
Why?
Lucy.
Lucy.
Lucy.

今日pop up store 奇遇3 (2015/01/01):

(1)Peppermint Patty

今日pop up store 奇遇5 (2016/01/01):

今日pop up store 奇遇6 (2016/01/01):

今日pop up store 奇遇7 (2016/01/01):

今日pop up store 奇遇8 (2016/01/01):
